NEPHRITE JADE AND SILVER GILT MAGNIFYING GLASS

NEPHRITE JADE AND SILVER GILT MAGNIFYING GLASS

Fabergé, c. 1900

This rectangular treasure is the work of Finnish-born master jeweler Johan Viktor Aarne, who brought his Art Nouveau sensibility to the House of Fabergé in late 19th-century Russia. The silver-gilt mount is adorned with rosettes, entwined oak leaves, and pine cone finials, while the handle is carved from polished nephrite jade. Though its form faintly echoes the screens of contemporary life, it invites quiet, deliberate contemplation.
